Community support for eGovernment projects in

Acceding Countries

Workshop 22 March 2004

Following the eGovernment Communication of 26 September 2003 and the Council Conclusions of 20 November 2003, the Commission services investigate the possibility to provide guidance on priorities for eGovernment projects for regional development in Accession Countries.

The seminar provided a platform to discuss priorities for innovative eGovernment (Research & Development, Good Practices) in the context of enlargement.

The workshop offered an opportunity to highlight achievements of national projects in Acceding Countries, get insight on financing of eGovernment using the Structural Funds as well as look forward to challenges and priorities for future research and good practices.

The seminar had two main sessions: the morning plenary devoted to presentations on eGovernment priorities, overviews of national projects in ACC and existing instruments for financing; the afternoon plenary which addressed specific cases in the light of:

1. its relevance for ACC

2. insight on financing in the context of ACC

3. lesson learned, priorities for advanced Government R&D and Good Practices in ACC.

The agenda with the presentations is available.

This seminar was for Acceding Countries governmental organisations, European researchers, Member State civil servants, regional organisations. The participation was by invitation only.
